* Vegetation type of Aqaba

Aqaba province (south Jordan) belongs to a phytogeographical region called subtropical or sudanian penetration. The vegetation in Aqaba is largely similar to that in the tropics. Dominated by Acacia species, Balanites aegyptiaca, Calotropis procera, Maerua crassifolia, Salvadora persica, Haloxylon sp, Ochradenus baccatus. Phoenix dactylifera (Date palm tree) and Hyphane thebaica and other similar related plants.
